Let me share to you the story of the Mayor and Death

I think I heard this story from Bo Sanchez.

A normal day passes by in a certain town when Death passed by the Mayor's house and says

"Good evening Mayor. I would just like to inform you that I will be taking 1000 lives from your town today"

The Mayor got shocked and responsively relayed the message to every citizen in his town. He made calls, published the news in the papers and even knocked the doors of the citizens. He warned them about the message that Death informed him last night.

Everyone in the town was able to get the message and the day passed and 100,000 people died from the town.

The following day the mayor complained to Death "WHAT HAPPENED! you said you would only take 1000 lives from my town. Why did 100,000 people die today?"

Then Death replied

"I was only taking 1000 lives from your town but since you relayed the information, other people got so paranoid with what will happen that it became the cause of their death also."
